Odd ball caliber but this 30ar is a hammer the Remington A15 runs and shoots fantastic

I bought this rifle years ago for hog and deer hunting. I just don't know why this cartridge never caught on. Remington factory ammo is well below published figures (about 2600 fps for 125 gr and 2350 fps for 150 gr) but I handload for it straight out of the Hornady reloading manual and am getting 2577 fps with the 160 gr bullet made for the .308 Marlin Express. This makes it a 300 yd deer rifle. Ironically, I have only taken one deer with this gun and it dropped in its tracks. The rifle itself is discontinued but has been 100% for me, no problems at all through all of the load development I have done. I would like to see this one come back chambered not only in this cartridge but 6mm ARC and 6.5 Grendel as well.

It just doesn't get better for the AR15 platform. Low recoil for the power of the round. Have had NO malfunctions of any kind after several hundred rounds through two different rifles. You can expect accuracy of one-inch or less at 100 yards. Depends on the load being fired. This camo finish is moderately durable and blends well will most wooded or forested terrain. The 30 Remington AR cartridge reloaded with a 160 grain Hornady bullet will take all medium and big game species on the north American continent, a little on the light side for brown bear/grizzley but would get the job done with correct shot placement. Moose within 300 yards is reasonable (beyond that you need to be a better hunter rather than a shooter anyway!) The 125-150 grain factory loads are more than adequate for deer and up to elk, again with proper shot placement. Too bad this cartridge hasn't caught on with more hunters. You will be hard pressed to find a better all round chambering for the AR15 sporter rifle. This is one of my most favorite AR's. Can still find ammo on the shelves -- too bad Remington stopped production of this great rifle!

Wanted one of these for several years, finally got it. I absolutely love this thing! Very light, crazy accurate, and barely bumps your shoulder on recoil. Cartridge flopped commercially, but I'm going to reload the factory cases as I fire them. This has the same ballistics as the .300 Savage round, which has been a favorite deer cartridge for 90 years, or something like that. Plays in the same ballpark as the .308 in the 100-150gr bullet weights for factory loads. Back to the rifle...wish it came with two mags (has only one), but the 9- and 10-round mags made for the .450 Bushmaster work just fine in this caliber (get them from Numrich Gun Parts, MidwayUSA and Trident Armory), for those who live in a free State. Has a rifle-length gas system which is good for handloading. One note on the picture on this website: Mine came with a Realtree Xtra camo finish, not the MAX-1 as shown and described. If you want the MAX-1 you should probably contact the sales department to verify before they ship it. I didn't really care which camo, so no big deal for me. Totally recommended, other than limited ammo availability if you don't want to reload.

A JOY TO SHOOT LOVE THIS RIFLE RECOIL IS LESS THAN MY 300 BLACKOUT,VERY ACCURATE DEAD ON AT 300 YRDS WITH A BURRIS PREDATOR SCOPE.THE RIFLE ITSELF MADE BY DPMS FOR REMINGTON I BELIEVE IS TOP NOTCH FUNCTIONS SMOOTH,AND THE CALIBER IS OUTSTANDING.ITS ALL ABOUT SHOT PLACEMENT ANY HOW ,I WOULD NOT BALK ON PUTTING THE CROSS HAIRS ON A ELK.THE REMINGTON 30 AR SEAMS TO GET THE JOB DONE.

Great weapon for the price. Proven itself as a great hunting weapon this last season. Great caliber but a little hard to find rounds. Ammo prices make it less of a plinker and more of a tool. ** 30 RAR rounds fit standard .223 mags but do not double stack. I can get about 14 in a 30rd mag without problems**

WOW , I can't believe these are this cheap. I gave almost $300 more for mine and I still think it was a good deal, it's my favorite AR. For the deer hunter I personally think it's the best caliber offered in the AR15 platform. If you reload there are so many options that you should be able to really make this a great rifle. If I can sell something out of the safe I will be buying another one for myself.
