This is the second Super Blackhawk I’ve owned. I sold the first one out of necessity, but always knew I’d own another one again someday. The first one was the 7.5”, and I now own a 10.5”. I mainly chose the long barrel because I wanted a really long barrel in my collection. Anyway, Ruger makes exceptionally well-constructed revolvers. This thing feels like a solid chunk of steel, even though the mechanical action is very smooth. Something to consider when searching for a 44 Magnum revolver is that the Blackhawks are designed to handle the strongest loaded cartridges available. Also be sure that you’re comfortable with the cowboy grip. If you’re okay with that, this is a great gun that will last you forever.

Beautiful gun in it's simplicity. Smooth sexy handle and weighs nicely in the hand. To shoot, I found it to be robust and firm. Serious but not over demanding. Overall, easy to control. Single action is sweet. Nice to thumb the next round with a lovely mechanical sound. As Hickok45 said, the trigger guard will sometimes bang into your finger. That smarts a little, but not a deal breaker. I love the gun. Mine is not for sale.

I owned one of these for 20 years and had to sell it when I was unemployed for a time. I replaced it now that I'm working and it is still basically the same gun, but the wood grips are much more beautiful than my last one. Very accurate, fun to shoot, and the long heavy barrel helps tame the recoil quite a bit.

Nice gun but I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it because of the midget grips. I think after I put some pachmayers on it, it'll be fine. The sites are kinda cheesy too. It's a $600 gun, put some decent sites on it, seriously.
