The Savage Arms Model 12 Long Range Precision will allow you to shrink your groups while expanding your reach. The Model 12 Long Range Precision rifle begins it's life as a Savage Target Action with a 26" carbon steel barrel. The carbon steel barrel features a full profile heavy magnum precision varmint fluted barrel. All of which is housed in an HS Precision fiberglass stock with v-block for accuracy. The cherry on top of the rifle is the Savage AccuTrigger which will allow you to fine tube the trigger pull from 6 oz to 2.5lbs.

I was fairly happy with this purchase, I had to make a few modifications to get it right. I had to remove material from the inside of the forestock area to keep it from sitting against the barrel when supported on a bipod. There was a lot of cleanup work that had to be done in the recoil lug pocket as well. The magazine it comes with is only for 3 rounds and the 10 round mags are pretty pricey. I also upgraded the bolt handle to a BA style which is longer and knurled. The Picatinny rail was not a good fit and needed a fair amount of bedding filler to get it stable. Overall it turned out to be a good shooting barrel using Hornady 147 grain ELD Match and 41 grains of 4350 at 2735fps.

Frighteningly accurate at 100 yards so far (3 rounds in 3/16” with second handload). Surprising amount of copper fouling. Great trigger. Rough action, but worth it for the money and the performance.

I bought this rifle just because. I always wanted to put together a bench rest type rifle just to see how accurate one could load for this type rifle. I found out that it likes certain powders and certain bullets. All reloads were accurate but you can really close up the group when reloading for a rifle that is really accurate from the start. Too heavy to carry around but it is fun to show your tight groups to others. The 260 Rem is right up there and just as accurate as all the other 6.5mm cartridges that the gun writers seem to think are unbeatable and you must have.

My gawd, what a incredible rifle !! Most fantastic rifle, most fantastic round, most fantastic stock trigger EVER !! She has NO recoil. 20 rounds in from new out of the box and she's breaking clay pigeons at 308 yards first shot, every shot. 4.6 mph wind at 90 degrees gusting to 8 mph; 27% humidity; 5205' altitude. NO DRIFT. Best print on paper at 308 yards was 2" group of 3 rounds and that slack is all my weakness. I'll better that. 139 gr Lapua Scenar pills in Cor Bon Performance Match ammo off the store shelf; Leupold Mk 4 6.5-20x50 on mid height Mk 4 rings and THIS Savage 12 LRP. I am 100% serious when I say that all my .308's, bolt and semi auto, are NOW for sale. You want a serious tack driver for under a grand? SAVAGE 12 LRP 260 Remington, right here.

I've only had one opportunity to get out and shoot this rifle yet but so far I'm impressed. Shot consistent .75" groups while doing a break in procedure with a constant 20 mph cross wind gusting to 25+ (lots of wind here in North Dakota). The target Accutrigger is crisp and clean and came set at 2.5 lbs according to my pull gauge so I still have quite a bit of adjustment in it yet. Also it came with the upgraded PS114 stock from HS Precision which was a nice surprise. So far I'm very happy, can't wait to see what she'll do once I get some proper hand loads worked up for it.

Excellent choice for precision shooting. After 20rds of barrel breakin, gun shoots consistent 3-shot groups that measure 1/4 inch at 100yrds. The HS Precision stock adds stifness to the barrel action and improves accuracy. Like all Savage Accutriggers, this one is a breeze to adjust. Arrived with a 1lb trigger pull, all I had to do was mount the scope and shoot. Balance and feel are perfect. Action lockup is tight and precise, a well made rifle. Thanks Savage.
