We don’t start with high expectations for a $800 MSRP Turkish O/U, but those expectations start with opening the box and seeing the gun. The packaging was in good shape and there was a choke tube box and instruction manual, gun broken down into two components in their own plastic bags with desiccant. The rear section wasn’t impressive as the Importer’s Website promised Grade 4 Turkish Walnut and a leather wrapped recoil pad. It has a plain black pad and light colored grade 1 wood with a fairly nice shiny finish. The barrels had red rust coming out of the monobloc and along the rib near the joint. Fit was tight. I broke it back down and oiled/greased the surfaces and choke tubes - that is when I discovered the choke tube wrench was not sized for the small .410 chokes and I would have to use something else. Test fired at a 25 yard target and the gun patterned a bit low, and odd that the modified choke shot very open compared to the improved cylinder. Mechanical trigger was very heavy. Measured the trigger but no number as my electronic scale maxes out at 12 pounds - so trigger pulls are heavier than 12 pounds. The chokes were poorly finished inside and the measurements were: CYL - .409”, IC - .393”, MOD - .406”, IM - .396”, FULL - .391” so the 4 star Improved Cylinder is tighter than 2 star Improved Modified, and the 3 star Modified is more Skeet - and none of the constrictions are very close to the MobilChoke standards (Cylinder is, but that isn’t a constriction) I’ll take it to the range tomorrow, but the initial impression is that I should have bought the $400 Turkish gun instead as this one did not match the expectations. Well, a good day at the range will wash away all of that - fingers crossed! Oh! The rust on the barrels cleaned up well :)
