James, A hammer block is similar to a firing pin block. It is a latch, block or other obstruction built into the action and normally positioned to prevent the hammer contacting the cartridge primer or firing pin when at rest. James, the reference is to a hammer-mounted firing pin. The hammer block is evidenced by a slot milled through the rear surface of the hammer beneath the spur, and a "tab" on the block is visible riding up and down in the slot. In short it is "old school" and does not have the "New" Uberti Floating Pin safety. you can try to get some more information from Buds on manufacturer and origin of this pistol at via LiveChat (available from 9AM to 9PM 7 days a week), the "Blue Chat Now" bottom at the bottom right of the page or phoning at (859) 368-0371 (available 9AM to 9PM EST Monday through Friday). P.S. I don't know how much help they will be.
