as previously reviewed on anothercolor= these ncstar 42' gun cases are great. you might be able to go down to a smaller size if you have ~16 in barreled AR- thats what I use these for and yes, there is about 6 inches to spare, but if you dont want it too wiggly just pull the stock out to longest setting. these are great: nice padding, sturdy zipperS (2 zippers which come together and have the extra eyelet allowing them to be locked together), and a shoulder strap that makes for easy carrying. the extra pouches hold pmags great or any other mags or loose items. there is room for them to'stick out' and the flap likewise has a big swath of velcro to acomodate holding wide things and still latch down good. nice colors too.
