I own other Howa rifles and now this one just adds to the collection. It should be an excellent squirrel gun. Bud's had the lowest price by far.

Fun little 22 trainer rifle, works very well so far. Only issue I've had is some feeding problems when the mags are fully loaded.

Smooth shooting rifle but sadly, they dont cycle worth a crap! - Double feeds - Jams - Failure to feed - Mags wont stay in We have had many talks with Howa about this rifle in which they replaced our original two mags. (They have sent us two pairs of mags and still a no go). The only thing to do is send it in just for them to polish the feed ramp and not fix the actual solution. This is a shame as the rifle is super accurate and just shoots really well.

Great so far. Howa is a solid company and their .308 and 6.5 caliber rifles are quite good. Theyre a great quality at a moderate price point. Not exactly "most bang for your buck" territory as there are a few options out there that are comparative quality for a lower cost. However with the M1100, through Buds at least, they seem to have entered that arena. The rifle feels solid, the trigger is crisp enough, weight is on point. Admittedly i have not put many rounds through it yet as ive only tested the functionality but i have been satisfied thus far. Aesthetics are what drew me to the rifle initially. It has a profile reminiscent of the m40 and the handling follows suit. Which is nice to have a rifle that differs visually from all the other bolt actions out there that share identical designs. The only negative i can give at this point would be the bolt isnt very smooth. Which is something you dont typically get from 22 bolt actions. That may or may not fix itself once the rifles been broken in but at the moment it shaves a few points off the final grade. Bottom line: for the money, it was a very satisfying purchase. In terms of everything i was wanting and expecting from the M1100 it checked all the boxes. Id give it an A- which may go up or may come down in a few months time. And since you cant do half stars, it gets a 5 until it gives me a reason to drop that rating.

With a recent purchase of this rifle, I would like the next customer to be aware of a few issues. The most annoying issue with this model is the feeding issues. It does not happen every time but is a major problem. I have shot around 500 rounds through this rifle with all types of ammo. From cheap stuff to competition level SK and Eley rounds. Occasionally it will not completely eject a spent case which turns sideways in the action causing a jam. It will occasionally double stack rounds causing a jam and damaging rounds. On the last round in the magazine, it will occasionally turn the bullet sideways causing it to stick in the magazine. You need to remove magazine from the rifle and pry the round out of the magazine. I was going to use this rifle in the F class 100 yd competition but due to feeding issues probably will not. The trigger is quite heavy but can be adjusted to an acceptable level. If there is a better clip option, this would be a very good choice. The clips are plastic and very light material. Possible flexing causes these issues? Howa needs to step up their game on this model to keep more in line with their M1500 models which are trouble free.
