2 Failures to eject within 50 rounds. Bolt and carrier has been sent back to riley. Riley customer service has been great so far, I will update in the future.

I have been wanting an Ak-74 for years, finally bought one, and I have NOT been disappointed. Great rifle, and is fun to shoot.

I just had a chance to fire this gun. I’ve owned it for awhile now. It’s very well made. The stock is very nice but a little plain looking compared to a laminated stock set. This is the first 5.45x39 mm AK I’ve ever owned but had several 7.62x39 mm AK’s made in several different countries. I was also shooting a 7.62x39 mm AK that day for comparison. After a few rounds I immediately loved shooting this gun. It hardly kicks, it’s recoil is very mild compared to an AK-47. You can shoot this gun faster and easier. This RAK74 was much more accurate than the Polish made AK-47 I was also shooting that day. It felt easier to shoot and keep the gun on target shooting rapid fire. I installed a quick-release scope mount on the side rail of the gun and topped it with a SIG red-dot sight. With my eyes the red-dot helped me get better groups. I only tried Wolf Ammo through it that day but do have Hornady ammo that I need to try. I’m sure that the Hornady ammo and future reloads will give me better groups. With Wolf ammo shooting quickly I got around 3-4” groups at 50 yards. I shot only 20 rounds through it. I needed to clean the bore before shooting more though it. Of all the AK’s I’ve owned over the years this is my favorite. It fed ammo flawlessly using Magpul 5.45 30-round magazines. Overall, its a great shooting gun and works flawlessly.

I bought one of these and bought a PSAK--74 around the same time. The PSA, for me had a superior fit and finish and just looked better but that's where the similarities end. Haven't had enough time to shoot the psa to compare accuracy but with the riley I am getting around 2" MOA consistently. Keep in mind, I sighted it in with a low resolution (256) thermal scope in the daytime so accuracy could be better if better optic was used. The safety is smoother on the Riley and doesn't have a loud audible click like the PSA. Along with a better feeling pistol grip, the trigger feels better as well on the Riley. I did receive the Riley with a few blemishes on the barrel and it did develop some surface rust on gas tube after sitting in the safe a couple months. All in all, both are a good choice for U.S. made ak's but the riley feels better while the PSA looks better. The PSA, for the same price, did not come with cleaning rod. Couldn't really tell anyone which one to buy...it just depends on what you're looking for. I prefer the riley at this point but that could change if the other's accuracy is better. We'll just have to see.
