Bud's shipped this rifle very quickly to my FFL. The price was unbelievably low, the best I could find anywhere. The rifle itself was as expected. Great, smooth action, with no binding of the bolt. Feeding and extraction are flawless. The rifle zeroed in five rounds and prints a 3/4" group at 100 yards using Vortex TTSX 168 gr. ammo. The stock to metal fit is very good. This rifle does not have a free floated barrel. It is pre tensioned at the very front of the stock. I fired eight rounds in rapid succession, getting the barrel quite hot without any of the shots vertically or horizontally stringing. What else is there to say. It's a Weatherby.

The Weatherby Vanguard S2 30-06 is the most accurate high powered rifle I own. I purchased it partly because of the accuracy guarantee and it has performed better than 1 MOA with both Winchester ballistic silvertip (180 gr) and Lapua Naturalis (170 gr all copper) ammunition. The trigger break is crisp and consistent. 3 position safety works well. Magazine options are limited to the stock internal box (4+1) or replacement 3 round detachable (plastic but functional). A five round detachable might be nice, but I have yet to need more than one.

My daughter has an earlier version in 30-06 that can shoot three shots touching at 100 yards from a rest. I bought the S2 model in 30-06, put a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 on it and my first 20 rounds using cheap Winchester 150 gr ammo (to begin the break in) produced one inch groups. I handload so I can't wait to see what this gun is capable of. Absolutely 100% satisfied. My next rifle will be the Vanguard in 7mm-08 or .243. Buds was nice to work with as well.

I bought this gun on the recommendation of a friend that had bought the Vanguard in ..270 and raved about it's accuracy. He has only shot the gun on the range. I spend a number of hours on the range getting it sighed in and working with a stubborn action. I have taken in the field twice and experienced the same problem both times in that it won't cycle the second cartridge and jams. I am looking to sell or trade this gun before next deer season as I won't be taking it into the field again.

Gun is amazing. Looks awesome too. It's my first hunting rifle, and it's incredibly accurate. I bore-sighted this rifle with a Nikon Prostaff 3x9-40 and a single box of ammo (Remington Core-Lokt 180gr), and it's shooting 1" groupings 100 yards out. Blew my mind. Took it hunting (for my FIRST time) this past weekend and I spotted a hog 100 yards out at night...shot it straight through the heart. This gun will stay in the family forever.

I'll talk about Buds and then the rifle. Buds is great. Rifle came quickly, good price. I like Buds. I bought this rifle after hearing good things about Weatherby. I don't have much experience with firearms, but this is a really nice rifle. I was a little hesitant about buying a rifle with a synthetic stock because most of them I've handled felt flimsy. This stock is rock solid and has a good amount of heft. It handles great. As far as shooting, I'm no great shot. I shoot a 6" group at 100 yards. If I get a 4" group, it's been an amazing day at the range. I can shoot a 2" group with this rifle easily and consistently. The trigger is nice, light, and snappy. The rifle is accurate. Period. For a 30-06, the recoil is a non-issue. I took it elk hunting for five days. Saw no elk. Walked the rifle around for five days. It got a little heavy after a while. I guess it's not the most beautiful rifle in the world. The stock is dark grey with black rubber. The steel is flat black. Doesn't have a beautiful walnut stock with nice bluing. I don't care. I think it looks awesome. I'm on a budget and I'm 100% satisfied with this purchase.
