Bought 4, tried to load bullets into the first one, it jammed up after about 12 rounds and won’t take any more, multiple attempts to load resulted in same thing, tried second magazine and it was even worse, couldn’t get more than 8-10 rounds before they bound up. Tried it with my ruger steel mags and they load fine. My pro mag 5.56 mags load fine. 7.62x39 in the poly mags just isn’t working

I decided to take a chance on these for my Ruger American Ranch 7.62x39 since it uses the Ruger mini 30 mags. For $10 at the time each it seemed worth a chance in spite of negative reviews. The negative reviews may well be justified on the mini 30, they definitely would be justified on the Ranch. Another reviewer said they work really well with some tweaking - it would be very useful to say what the tweaking was to help others, not simply say they work after tweaking. For my Ranch, I removed the polymer magazine well, and carefully watched the genuine Ruger 5 round steel mag, and the polymer ProMag. I quickly saw that there is a small plastic tab on the back end of the magazine that is supposed to clip the magazine in place just above the mag release. On the ProMag, the plastic tab is too high - way too high, so that the mag never inserts far enough to clip in place, and the follower is so low, the rounds will never be picked up by the bolt. Using a small Swiss army knife I could easily cut away thin strips of the tab until the mag would clip in place, but it was still too low for the rounds to be picked up. I kept cutting pieces away until the mag goes in far enough for rounds to be lifted, but not really reliably. The problem now is that the bottom end of the plastic tab is higher than the top of the mag release that locks the mag in place, so with a few millimeters of play, the mag does not always stay high enough to feed reliably. I might be able to build up the bottom end a bit with epoxy to keep it reliable, but I'm not optimistic that would really work well on such a small area of space to build up with epoxy. Would a steel ProMag 30 round magazine be more reliable? Maybe, I'm not sure - but if ProMag used the same specs to make the steel mags, I doubt it. No way I would risk $23.33 each on a few of those, plus shipping on the chance they might work better. You're better off getting genuine Ruger 20 round mags for $29.33 and you know they will work even though cost is a little higher and capacity is a bit less.

Bud's is Great! Price and Service are Great. Pro-Mag not so much I had to tweak everyone of these to get em to work. They're working perfectly now! Just expect some customization,

It's very clear to me that promag has no clue what the dimensions of a mini30 magazine well are. Please save yourself money and do not buy. The only good thing I can say is that they're made of plastic, so you don't damage your gun while trying to remove the crappy magazine.
