Matthew - The Taurus 1911 has "Novak" sight cuts. This is a pretty popular style sight cut as you may well know, and lots or sight options are available. I have found Dawson Precision Sights (Dawsonprecision.com) to be the best source for sights, and their customer service will always help you out -and their selection and prices are good. You can reach them at (866) 300-1911.

Does it have firing pin block?

yes the Taurus has a (series 80) style firing pin block

Yes it does Karoly. The Taurus 1911 has a firing pin lock that retains the pin if the trigger is not pulled to prevent a blow to the hammer setting off a live round.

It's an old concept that has been "re-invented". It was first used by hunters over 100 years ago hunting dangerous game because it was quick and dirty. Just stack the dots and shoot. I used it when I was a boy to hunt on moonlit nights. Ivory bead front and ivory inset at the bottom of the rear "V".

How many mags come with it? Also can I use other manufacturer mags on this firearm? If so, is Mecgar a good brand to use?

This pistol only comes with one 8rd Magazine. It will take any standard sized 1911 magazine including Mecgar's. Mecgar actually makes magazines for many OEM manufacturers pistols and are a reasonably priced choice for extra magazines. The gun shot reliably. Never once has it jammed. The finish is absolutely terrible. I touched the gun when I first got it and put it back in its case. I opened the case 2 couple of days later and it was rusted everywhere my fingers had touched it. The machining and the fit of the gun was very good. I ended up duracoating it.
