To find out what the W stand for you may have to call sig Phone: 603-610-3000 the guns are essentially identical cost difference is supply and demand

They are essentially identical Scott. Sometimes the cost difference simply boils down to one model having more in stock than the other. High stock firearms are lower in price than low stock firearms of similar models.

Other than the "threaded barrel" and Allow frame on the higher priced model, yes Scott. The lower priced one has polymer Magwell grips.
