• Q: Just want to know if the barrel is threaded on the outside to put on a muzzle brake.

  Yes it is Threaded The barrel is threaded and has a thread protector screwed on from the factory. The thread pattern is the same as the Saiga Shotguns and any of the numerous different Muzzle Breaks on the market for the Saigas will fit the Vepr.

• Q: I know this will handle 3" and 2.75 cartridges, but will it handle other sizes under 3"?

  Modern 12 ga shotgun shells come in sizes 2 3/4 , 3 and 3 1/3 lengths and it will handle 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells safely

• Q: First and foremost, does this take saiga mags? Second, will this be able to cycle bird shot, or just high brass?

  The Molot VPR-12 will take Saiga and Saiga Styled magazines and will cycle 95% or so with low brass bird shot. Example here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHzucLlmBxg

  Unfortunately no. As a semi-automatic shotgun with a pistol grip it is illegal in CA. Hope that helps!
