I purchased the Ruger American .308 LH for my son based on the fact that I have the same model in RH and have been very happy with mine. He shot mine and liked it, so time for his own. Simple and effective design, easy to handle and shoot. I like the rough finish of the barrel and the synthetic stock; made to handle a little more of the outdoors and not worry about scratches or blemishes. Gotta be careful when switching the safety back and forth, can make a loud click if not deliberate. We have not had a chance to put any rounds through the new purchase. Bud's kept me completely informed throughout the purchase and shipping process, delivered as promised.

I dumped the factory stock and installed/Boyd's custom stock. Rifle is smooth cycling tack driver out to 200 yards.

Have yet to fire this gun, but it seems to be of very high quality build. Not 5 stars due to slightly rough action (which seems to be common), creating a zipping sound when cycling the bolt. I am certain this will smooth out and already seems better after about 100 cycles/dry fires.

I give this rifle an A+++. I put a Nikon BDC scope on it. Action is very smooth. No hang-ups at all. 300+ milk jugs. Keep oil on the exterior though. It will get surface rust quick. Great rifle.

Really good rifle and excellent customer service from Ruger. Had a magazine issue right after getting it home. A quick email and 3 days later a new magazine was at the house. It's been flawless since then. Great shooter, accurate and comfortable.

This is the second Ruger American I have bought. While I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet, I can tell you that the first one I bought is exceptionally accurate when using Nossler ammunition. Easily sub MOA at 100 Yards. The stock isn't amazing but works well for dragging around the Colorado mountains. The first one is a right handed .308 that I bought for my wife and she loves it. I put on a Boyd's laminated wood stock in "Pepper" stain and a Leupold VX-1 3x9x40 scope. Now it looks like and shoots like a high end rifle for about $800. We shared that one last Elk season but I am left eye dominant and wanted a "Lefty" for next season. The rifle is rugged and you wont feel too bad if you ding it up a little out hunting because it is affordable. All in all it's a great rifle for the working man on a budget. I was saving for a Tikka T3x Hunter or Browning X bolt but fell in love with my wife's Ruger and bought my own.

Honestly it is a good rifle for the money. fit and finish is excellent. Had to adjust ring placement on my scope rifle and scope zeroed easily. accurate .308

Purchased this product for field use such as deer / bear hunting and matched it with a Nikon 12x40 BDC scope. This rifle and scope combination provides a dead on accurate round at 200+ yards. Thank you Ruger for manufacturing rifles with the left hand shooter in mind! Bud's delivered this product in a timely (as promised) manner.
