The Gunsite Scout Rifle has a forward mounted Picatinny rail that allows for the mounting of modern optics and a soft rubber recoil pad with buttpad spacers allowing the rifle to be properly sized for different shooters. Developed with Gunsite, this rifle is "Gunsite Approved" and features logo engraved on the grip cap and name roll marked on the receiver. It has an accurate sighting system with ghost ring adjustable rear aperture sight and a protected non-glare post front sight. Patented integral scope mounts, machined directly on the solid-steel receiver, provide a stable mounting surface for scope rings, eliminating a potential source of looseness and inaccuracy in the field (scope rings included). The Gunsite Scout also includes a rugged, one-piece, stainless steel bolt; three-position safety; studs for mounting sling swivels; medium contour cold hammer-forged free floating barrel; glass reinforced nylon trigger guard and magazine well.

Great handy rifle. Trying to build it out as a proper scout but so far so good. My only recommendation is go through and loctite every screw you can find and torque to ruger spec.

Love this tool. Great balance. Nice tactile feel to the stock. Recoil and muzzle jump negligible with 150 grain, particularly given the light weight. Might prefer a couple more inches of barrel (think I saw an 18” model being offered now). The brushed stainless was rough cycling at first-nothing a hundred cycles of the action didn’t fix. Getting smoother every time I play with it. Might replace the muzzle break with some sort of flash hider, cause the muzzle blast is positively heinous. Had to remove the rail in order to get a 40mm objective optic mounted with low rings-Doesn’t look nearly as cool, but that is a purely academic point. With a 2x7 and 5 round mag (hope to replace with the 3 round mag), it is now my favorite for whitetail in the heavy woods.

Best all around rifle any one could own. If I could only own one rifle, this would be it. Worth every penny. Ruger mags work best in the rifle. Magpul mags work but are more difficult to seat quickly from my experience with my rifle. Buds Gun Shop to the rescue. I've wanted one of these rifle for the last couple years and had trouble finding one. Buds was the first place I found one in stock.

This is my favorite hunting rifle. I've taken dozens of deer out to 300 yards with it with a 7x forward scope. I've taken coyotes at 500 yards with it. Excellent gun to pack all day.

Beefy and well made Ruger really hit the mark with this one, great accuracy out to 240 yards my eye can do 5 inches at 300yds but I’m 63 I liked the rifle so much I bought one in 16 inch stainless for the boat and 18 inch stainless for hunting. Best 308 gun site rifle, a little on the heavy side but built solid.i own two other gun site rifles, they are nice but do not compare to my Rugers.

I've bought from buds before. They are always competitive with pricing and the time it takes for them to process and ship your order is better than anyone else I've dealt with. The ruger deserves 5 stars. Solid bolt action. Precise, good weight and great sights. The rear sight is removable so you don't have to have a forward mounted scope. Only downside is the magazine. But certainly not a deal breaker!
