Stock and trigger pull suck, particularly if you're shooting off a bench. Trigger is not the great accutrigger, Buds guns warns you to do you're home work and I didn't. I think the inherent accuracy of the rifle is probably much better than than I can shoot with the thin stock and long trigger pull. I have shot a fair number of groups with 4 in a ragged hole and one off in the tulies.

For the money you are getting a very accurate out of the box rifle.. with the heavy barrel the recoil is close to none.. Yes the trigger is heavy with a long pull and the stock is economical and very light but overall the rifle is very nice. In its accuracy it can compete with the $800 dollar rifles out there... I am very happy with mine.

I had used a older model the Savage Edge .223 with a scope and enjoyed shooting the gun very much. After talking with several gun shops and research on line I found the Savage Axis was the latest Model and was offered in .223 round, so my purchase was this gun plus I ended up ordering the bull or Heavy Barrel seeing my use for the gun is target shooting and groundhogs. The gun is well made, I already purchased a Vortex scope which was easy to mount on top of the Savage Axis HB .223 just waiting for some nice weather to test it out. I am very happy with my purchase.

This rifle is a track driver, the trigger absolutely sucks from the factory, so after a little polishing it's actually not to bad. Using american eagle 50 grain varmint tipped rounds I consistently shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards. Very pleased with this rifle. It's a cheap shooter.
