This was the second Savage Axis I purchased and it is just as good as the first. A great deal on a great gun. Hard to get a better shooting gun, even for twice the money.

A heavy rifle! I ditched the stock for a Boyd's varmint in OD green. DNZ mount and Weaver Super Slam scope. I added a trigger job. It prints cloverleaf at 100 yds.

I paid off rifle online on August 15th and it was ready for pickup in store the same night. I picked it up on the 17th and it was in perfect shape. It had factory oil on it that was easy to clean up and within a few days I had a scope and one piece scope mount ready to install on it. The rifle was drilled and tapped for scope, but had no mounts installed. It was no real biggie since i wanted to install a one piece scope mount on it anyways. I got it out to sight in scope and was impressed on how accurate it was.I was on paper 1st shot and sighted in within 5-6 shots, so I was pleased with rifle right away. I am really happy with the rifle, especially for a sub 300 dollar gun. The one thing I was not impressed with was the stock. It felt kinda cheap, but not enough to bug me. I paid 316.00 dollars after tax and savage has a fall rebate going on now($50.00 cash back) , so I only have 266.00 in gun itself. That left me even more than pleased on my purchase. Overall I would recommend this gun to anyone and would gladly buy again. As always Buds was excellent in the gun buying process!!
