Jeremy, This magazine does work (fit and function) on certain Savage 10/110 6.5 Creedmore rifles. But this 10 round magazine will not fit or function in the Savage Axis series of rifles.

Dan, No this 10 round magazine will not fit or function in 4+1 Axis rifle. The magazine James G listed is exact magazine your asking about. Just different listing. Look at part number 55185. So he says the magazine won't work, but says you need exact same one. Ha Ha

The tenth round sometimes pops out the top of this magazine (spring too strong? casing too weak?). It doesn't hold 10 rounds consistently. It doesn't fit: Savage Axis XP 308 Win 20" 4RD Black 3-9x40, it has no bottom release latch.

First, let me say Bud's service and support is great, and Savage is great too, but their parts info for Savage mags is confusing. Savage customer support recommends calling them first, with your gun's SN and they will tell you the correct mag part numbers that are compatible. This mag IS NOT compatible with all the many variations of "Model 11's," for example Model 11 Trophy Hunter XP. I'm just going to have to learn how to live without a 10-round mag... heavy sigh of disappointment. Hope that helps brother.

this magazine says on the package
it has a bottom release latch as the 4round magazine that came with my savage mod 110 308 hog hunter,but as you can see there is no latcch on the magazine so it does not work with my mod 110,dont know if buds will take it back or not,they could keep my money and send me some ammo for the cost of the maggazine.

These aren't the greatest magazines big I'm being honest. I've bought 2 of them months apart so the likelihood that they were produced in the same batch is pretty slim.
I bought these after speaking with a Savage sales/service tech and being assured that they are compatible with the Bass Pro Shops / Cabela's Exclusive Savage 10T-SR .308 Win.
They both came with very stiff springs out of the box and getting that 10th round to seat fully in the magazine is more of a hassle than it is worth in my opinion. The first magazine I bought had feeding issues due to the magazine not to seating fully in the magwell. It was just too low to strip rounds and the bolt would just slide over the top. Bending the rear locking tab solved this issue but for the price of these magazines it shouldn't be an issue that needs to be corrected.
The second magazine I bought had the same stiff spring and getting the 10th round in the magazine was a PITA.
At the end of the day they do work after they get some rounds put through them and they are reliable if you run them with 9 in the mag and 1 in the pipe. The benefit of having more than 4 rounds make them worth it but if you are bench rest shooting it's just as easy to single feed the rounds. Would I recommend them? Yes, but know what you are getting and it may be worth going the accuracy international route.
