My 1895 trapper in 4570 caliber finally arrived wow . I am more than impressed with Marlin/ rugers Quality of manufacturing. The 1895 trapper in 4570 is a little hard to acquire due to its popularity, however, I was able to locate one on Bud’s website always a pleasure doing business with them.

Absolutely beautiful rifle. Very high quality build with a clear ruggedness. The sights are amazing. These aren't the easiest to find, glad I was able to add one to my collection. Highly recommend.

First, the description says polished stainless but it is matte with a few shiny exceptions (bolt, loading gate, fore end cap, trigger). Overall this is a very well made rifle. The only con is the 5# trigger (per my Wheeler gauge). It’s not bad but just heavier than I like. I also have a .45-70 CVA Scout with a great trigger (just over 2.5#)… for 1/3 the price. Ruger could have done much better with the trigger, especially considering the cost of the rifle. On a positive note, I was very pleased with the sights. They were almost dead on with the rear sight in the middle of the receiver. I have had other Ruger firearms where I had to crank the rear sight very far to the left or right when sighting in. That was my biggest concern and it was a non-issue.

Love this rifle! Initially had an issue with a round getting jammed, but was able to cycle it out. I reached out to Bud's Guns, and they were super responsive, providing guidance and the number to Ruger/Marlin. Ultimately we got it sorted out. Took it to the range and unloaded this beast. The rifle is slick, and packs a punch. This is the second gun I buy on Bud's and the process is always simple, quick and reliable. I really appreciate the prompt response and professionalism. I plan to continue to so business. Cheers!

This gun is light weight and easy to carry. I wasn't sure about the skinner sights at first but they are really easy to get use to. Shoots great and looks amazing.

Marlin is back! Gone are the issues that Remington brought to Marlin. The fit and finish are top notch. This gun is so much fun. I have had a chance to put several hundred rounds through it, from sub-sonic reloads to the hottest and heaviest and it just runs. It’s about time a company woke up and modernized the lever, ever so slightly, by having a threaded barrel standard. My absolute favorite gun to shoot now. If you can find one, grab it.

Arrived on time as always. Exactly what I was expecting, excellent fit and finish and a beautiful weapon. Would highly recommend anyone looking for a big bore Lever action rifle find one of these if you can. They sell out fast.

I was worried about how Ruger would handle a re-issue of the Marlin 1895. I need not have worried. It works perfectly and the quality is better than the old Marlins that were made by Remington (the "Remlins"). The "Ruglins" are good.

I only put a few rounds through my trapper. I really like it. I was a bit hesitant because it does actually feel light in the hand. I had never shot a 45-70 before this one. The recoil isn’t bad. It is a boomer and I do kinda like that. I have started buying several brands and different bullet weights to see what it likes best. Definitely a keeper.

Thought long and hard about the SBL vs the TSBL. Really happy that I went with the Trapper. Had a problem the first time shooting it with a shell that jammed so tightly that I couldn’t cycle the action. After finally removing it I’ve determined it was the shell and not the gun. (Buffalo Bore 430 grain hard cast magnum) It devoured 2 other boxes of shells without a hitch. I did fire one more of the B.B. shells at that point without a problem but I’m still a little leery. I love this gun though. 15 rounds or so to get used to the peep sight(my first) and I’m putting lead on a 1” bullseye at 50 yds with every round. Exactly what I wanted for a brush gun in the Pacific Northwest. Compact, easy handling, and pretty lightweight for a weapon that hurls the size cannonballs this thing does. I have to say , Marlins approach to warranty work leaves a lot to be desired though. Before I was able to remove that jammed shell I contacted customer support to see about getting it in to find out what was wrong. The automated email back from them said guns having warranty work done would not be returned for a MINIMUM of 12 weeks. (And yes, it does have to be shipped back to New York to have any work done. Why they can’t have authorized Marlin dealers around the country to work on their guns, I don’t know) But 3 months, once it’s in their shop, to make a repair is ridiculous. With shipping back and forth across the country and a minimum of 3 mo in house for the repair I would have been out at LEAST 3 1/2 months for a gun that I just paid over $1000 for. Come on, Remlin, figure it out. So that’s my thoughts. Great gun but I hope it never has to go in for warranty work. Also, a quick shout out to On Target Outdoors in Castle Rock, Wa for bringing the gun in for me. Very fast, very professional.
