Incredibly disappointed. At first look the Springfield TRP with rail seemed nice but with further inspection (with my glasses on) I noticed the finish had small chips from, I believe, poor metal prep before Cerakote finish was applied. The front sight was forced in place which removed the finish in the dovetail and was visibly off center and pinned in place so the rear sight is installed way to the right to compensate for it. When I tried to pull the slide back I couldn't do it with just my hand. I had to put the "tactical rack" rear sight against the edge of my work bench and using both hands put all my weight into it to get the slide back. I ended up doing this several times before I was able to pull slide back by hand at all. It appears to me that the barrel was improperly (poorly) fit and is binding at the locking lugs and the barrel hood, this plus the full length guide rod created too much friction for the slide to move freely. Speaking of the FLGR, it is a two piece model even though the TRP has a barrel bushing and has to be removed to take down the slide as you would normally. I did not like the grips that came on it due to the thumb notch that grated the side of my thumb, though had a good grip to them. I consider that a personal preference so my rating does not include the grips. When I took the TRP to the range is was a battle all the way. Trying to get 500 rounds through it actually took several trips as there were many feeding issues and and ejection/extraction issues with cases needing to be pried off the extractor. I had difficulty getting a single shot group as it hit approximately 3.5 inches and 2.0 inches high right. I had a professional trainer fire it and they experienced the same problem. I believe the tight barrel and minimum spec chamber are causing this due to case length variation. Admittedly I am not an expert or gunsmith so some of my assumptions could be off. I have however been carrying a 1911 for over 30 years, currently own over 20 (6 SA) and have built several myself in the past few years. This pistol looks as though it was built by an amateur and not the typical professionals at Springfield Armory.
