Hello, my name is James, and I'm a revolverholic. This 686+ with a 6 inch barrel scratches that itch. Powerful, accurate, beautiful, with a seven shot cylinder. The trigger started stiff but smoothed out after one range session. Yes, this particular specimen had the problem with the ejector rod backing out with use, but this is a common problem with Smith revolvers, and when you know to look for, it is easily mitigated with some loc-tite. I was hitting a 6" steel plate at a hundred yards more often than not, with 158 grain JSP rounds. IMHO Smith hits the sweet spot when it comes to revolvers -- more refined with better fit and finish than cheaper offerings, but not overwhelmingly expensive like the German and French imports. I anticipate purchasing the 4" and 3" models over the coming months, having completed my collection of Model 629s. Needless to say, if you like revolvers, get one of these 686+s, in whatever barrel length. Though I own some semi-automatics, the more I shoot revolvers, the more I believe wheel-guns are far superior to plastic, striker-fired pistols, in power, accuracy, and aesthetics. Capacity does not rate the consideration it receives today.

I've wanted a 6' .357 revolver ever since I was a kid with a Crossman c02 pellet revolver and this fit the bill. The 686 + has everything you could want, smooth double action pull, light crisp single action, and 7 rounds of .357 power. Its the only gun you'll need in the woods in the lower 48

I love, love this revolver! I wanted the 6" plus model for a while and once I got it I took it to the range the following day. Recoil with .357 rounds are much more tamed because of the barrel size and rubber grips. Breaking in the trigger has been a breeze too. After 50 rounds it's already even more smooth. This is another high-quality revolver from one of the best to ever do it!

Awesome gun! No problems, except for the trigger. The triggers are tarnished. They've got black all over them, and apparently the only way to buy smith and wesson with appropriate QC, is to buy a performance center edition. What you see in the picture is what you get. I bought a 629 classic .44 with the same trigger. Other than that, the gun performs flawlessly.

This is a GREAT wheel gun. Excellent weight distribution, workmanship, and trigger feel - right out of the box.

I’ve had several different.357 Magnum handguns but this one is the best so far. This is the second Smith & Wesson .357 that I’ve owned. By far, this gun is the most accurate. You can target shoot at 50 yards with it. I like that it holds 7 rounds. The gun is very well made is very nicely finished. It comes with rubber grips but there’s a lot of other grips that can be purchased for this gun. I replaced the grips with very nice wood grips but the rubber grips are actually more comfortable and practical. They just don’t look as nice as a pair of wood grips. Gun fires and functions perfectly. No problems experienced. I need to shoot it some more to get a better idea of its accuracy. Great gun and a gun I’m holding onto for a long time.

This 6 inch barreled 686 handles 357 as easy as 38 special, I was pleasantly surprised by that fact. You could shoot this revolver all day and not get your hand beat up. Don’t like the trigger lock but it can be deleted. Thanks again to Buds Gun Shop!

Have had this for over 6 years. Shoots well, functions well. I wanted an affordable non-pistol. I have since bought a Five Seven and still love to shoot this. Probably have nearly 1,000 rounds through it.

I consider a long barreled .357 revolver to be a staple in any gun collection. The Smith and Wesson M686 Plus is iconic, and well deserving of that status. From handgun hunting to home defense, it is an excellent firearm.

I've had this gun since 2013 and am pretty sure I reviewed it , but, here goes. Quality pistol with good balance and accuracy. It looks great and has never had a malfunction. I have replaced the factory grips with hogue conversion rubber grips, a little more substantial than the factory grips. Got the usual gripe about the hillary hole, but not such a big deal. It's a winner

I used the "cash" option by sending a money order. Sent it on a Thursday and it was received by the FFL the following Wednesday. Received emails from Buds at every step of the process. Revolver had a scuff on it due to the paper bag it was wrapped in from the factory. I've owned the Taurus version of the 686 7 shot with a 4 in barrel and it is a solid product but I can tell the difference in quality hands down. The 686 is smoother, tighter, and there are no rattles when you shake it. The firing pin block rattles on the Taurus. The craftsmanship on the 686 is professional grade. I ordered the 6 in barrel and it came with the new smooth grips. Just get it, you won't be disappointed. The case it comes in is nice but the foam isn't thick enough to keep the weapon from moving, no biggie easy fix. It's a beast. Semper Fi

Recently purchased for Christmas. Revolver was reciveed in four days from order being placed. Revolver is perfect. Built like a tank. Excellent SA trigger right out of the dos. Red front ramp sight stands out great. Accuracy is great . Debated between this and the Ruger Gp-100. Glad I went with the S&W. The fit, finish, and quality are perfect. Comes with the new S&W grips not the Houge grips seen above. I prefer the S&W. If I could only own one gun this would be it.
