Perfect size for everyday carry. Easy to conceal either in a shoulder holster or IWB. I use an owb holster with open end and when carried with a shirt outside the waistband, it completely disappears with virtually no printing. I would add that I am not skinny and I can carry all day in comfort. The action is tight with no barrel wobble. Two downsides which are easily correctable. The first is the sights. Very small and hard for some of us older generation to see. I corrected that by putting several coats of bright green nail polish on the front sight, followed up with two coats of clear lacquer polish. The second are the grips. Very plain and looked washed out. Cheesy comes to mind. However, a new set of highly polished wood grips makes the gun look completely new and upgraded. Thicker than the regular grips and will not irritate the skin if the gun is worn on the outside of the pants without a T shirt. It is a very good firearm at a very reasonable price.

Great looks, nice finishing, but the taketown??? I sold this at a loss after the mickey mouse design of takedown. I am an old school 1911 guy and what they did to a classic with the funky paperclip BS is crimnal.

Bought this gun for my wife, I love 1911s. I'm not sure about the bushing style, through no fault of the gun itself having to have a paperclip on hand to clean it is kinda wack. I recommend a standard 5" bushing 1911 but this one is plenty fine barring that design choice.

The pistol was great! A nice size that fits comfortably in the hand. Doesn't come with an owner's manual so you have to figure out how to break it down for cleaning yourself. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range but it seems like a well-made firearm. A bit of advice on purchasing guns from Buds; Don't use the eCheck option unless you want to wait almost two weeks to get your gun. I've done business with Bud's for many years, and the transaction was always fast, but I tried the eCheck purchase not knowing there would be an eight-to-ten-day lapse before the gun would be shipped. Other than that, buying from Bud's is always a pleasure and the prices are always great.

I love my purchase and I have always preferred the 1911.

It comes slathered in oil. I really wanted to like it,but it's just not like my colts. The mags were not much,and would cause hiccups,and the grips are slick and like they are made from the leg of someone's kitchen table.With Wilson combat mags it ran fine,trigger was kind of gritty feeling,but smooth.Its a good base to build and customize on though.

Bud's shipped it quick and it arrived in perfect condition. It's a great shooter, never had a problem with it, feeds everything I put through it. It's small and lightweight for a 1911 and carries great.

I have a full size 1911 and I wanted a compact size 1911 for concealed carry. The Rock Island Armory pistol is perfect for my needs. It is a solid built gun and the finish is better than some guns that cost much more.

Well finished, all steel handgun. Grips set the finish off nicely. Good fit in my large hand. Heavy pistol helps with the .45’s recoil. Thus far the little.45 has gobbled up round nose, hollow point, you name it without issue.

Came on time looks very well built haven't shot it yet but if there is a problem buds is usually on top of it

This 1911 is awesome for the price. Accurate, recoil, balance and sights are comparable to other 1911's. The 1911 engineering can't be beat, that's why it's still around.

Over all pistol is good nice fit between slide and frame is tight, trigger is not bad. Only downside is the finish, edge of rear sight has what appeared to be rust sent email to Bud's but no response so I pushed rear sight off, when slide was parkerized it was done do with rear sight in place. What I thought was rust was some type of anti seize, underneath the rear sight was bear metal. So finish right next to rear sight is bear metal first thing you see is the spot that didn't parkerize. My reparkerize the slide at some point shouldn't have to do this with new pistol though. Would have expected Buds to respond to my email.
