I wasn't even in the market for one of these but Bud's price was so low I couldn't pass it up. Typical Mossberg versatility, functions great. Also got a great price from Buds later for the 18" security barrel. Though it didn't really need it, I replaced the mag follower with a delrin one and it smoothed up loading. Indestructible workhorse that you don't have to worry about knocking around in the woods or blind.

It's a Mossberg 500, not something super high end. Perfect for hunting and not worrying about if it gets a scratch, but reliable enough to count on every time.

Reliable. The only issue I have had with it so far is the forend came pretty loose. Mind you I have only had it for a month or so.

This is pretty much the baseline for the pump action 12 gauge. Works great, easy to maintain. Recommended for anyone's first shotgun, or if you just want a workhorse.

I think I agree with everyone else that this is an affordable quality shotgun and has an ease of use and disassembly perfect for a novice. Cycling is solid, but my only critique is the forearm grip being a bit loose on the closed position - likely due to the mechanism needing a bit of wiggle-room to prevent stress. Online, there's lots of accessories available - again, another great thing about this product.
Bud's was also very quick in shipping to the FFL, another plus.

love this shot gun. 75 round yesterday (1) failure to eject. may have been for cheap federal birdshot. (changed out barrel to an 18.5 in)

This was my first shotgun, and I love it! No hiccups yet. Seems very reliable, however there is more play than I thought there would be in the forend. Easy to strip and clean as well. Came with 3 screw in chokes.

I bought this entry-level Mossberg to convert into a Bullpup as seen in the kit that is also available here on Buds. However, that plan has now been scrapped since the vented rib barrel prevents the conversion. That’s okay because a standard shotgun is always good to have when buddies come over to shoot and Mossberg is a good reliable brand.
Good luck finding a better-priced and performing entry-level 12ga during this pandemic. Thanks Buds for having this firearm available. I’d comment on the synthetic-ness of the gun, but you’re getting exactly how it’s described and it is appropriately priced.

i went to pick up my shotgun at my FLL dealer! it was in a sealed box i didn't even care to look at it since the box was sealed and in mint condition! my fault for not opening the box! when i got home and i inspected the gun it looked brand new! i still think is brand new,but with a big problem! on top where the screws are to instal a picatinny rail or sights it has a huge chunk of metal missing like someone tried to use a dremel or power tool and took out a huge chunk of metal! i still haven't shoot it but it should be fine sine those pump action shotguns are a beast!

Great gun at a very reasonable price. I've been out trap shooting with it several times and it has performed flawlessly!

Very nice, well made, and a lot of fun first shotgun for me in a long time, no regret here just shop around but this seems like a good purchase no complaints...

This is my first Shotgun, and I can say this thing is a dream to shoot compared to other shotguns I've fired. The Recoil pad is nice and spongy with a very grippy rubber. The rib is nice especially with the dual beads on the barrel. The forestock rattles a little, but you won't find a shotgun in this price range that doesn't. The matte black reciever, and stock is great. The Tang safety was a little stiff but after some working off and on of the safety it softened up and glides on and off, with a very nice easy click, instead of a stiff smashing to get it to move. You can't go wrong with this shotgun. Easy barrel swap, lots of stock options. Mine came with a swivel stud on the stock, but no swivel stud on the barrel cap. There is a spot for one, but its not there. I'll more than likely be calling mossberg to see if something was forgotten. But other than that, this is one great shotgun.

this is an amazing deal. i just bought one of these from here at buds, and immediately fell in love with it. first, the service at buds is unmatched. the sales people are knowledgeable, and very friendly. but about the gun. the first thing that i noticed is the finish. the older model 500 had a slightly glossy, smooth finish. this gun has a matte tactile finish. it seems almost parkerized even though i dont believe it is though. the gun points amazingly, and has really impressed me. it also impressed my father significantly, in fact he said that his next gun will most likely be this one.
