Great gun. Today was the 1st day this gun went to the range. My wife and I fired all three calibers of ammunition ( 45 long colt, 45APC, and 410 buck shot) through this gun. It worked flawlessly. After almost a complete box of long colt and some 45 APC rounds, I noticed some of the 410s had difficulty completely dropping into the cylinder because of some carbin build up. It just took a push to get them completely in the cylinder. That tells me that some extra care will be needed to clean the cylinder. No biggie. The gun is fun to shot and is accurate. Smith and Wesson did this gun right. This gun is extremely well built and I would recommend it to anyone rather you use all three caliber or not.

My snake gun when I go out to hunt. Feel safe knowing this can take care of any issues you might run into in the woods.

Unique gun just be sure to test how the 410 shells eject and fire down the primer might be too far and some times the shells won't eject easily

Great gun! Makes me laugh every time I shoot it. It's just that fun! It really is the best self defense weapon contrary to to what the experts say. This is the type of gun everyone should have.

Quality pistol that is well made.

This gun is a monster. Big and even bigger in a holster. Quality and resale value are high so you can't really go wrong if you are looking for a .410 handgun. Gun was too big for my taste and I have my doubts about how effective .410 loads are in a no kidding situation. I sold it for what I paid for it, alot of folks seem to like the format.

very nice, had a little machine flashing around the begining of the barrel where it fits into the frame but no big deal it cleaned of easy enough. suprised that it had no moon clips in the box when it arrived, i guess they dont come with them anymore so thats more cost on top of a already expensive yet quality revolver. have not fired it as of yet but really like the weight and feel and action all as good as anyone would expect from a S&W revolver. biggest feature for me that sold me on this is the fact it holds six and can shoot 45ACP but without clips it doesnt. as i havent fired it at this time i cannot complain i love it and will give it five stars.

I really like this pistol. I've heard said that it's not practical. Fantastic snake gun. For personal defense drop in a moon clip of .45 apc and your good to go for close in combat. .45 is devastating plus a moon clip is faster and quicker than speed loaders. throw a bag full of .45 moon clips in a bag and your ready for what ever comes your way. an other option is to load a #7 bird shot first as a deterrent if that doesn't make them go away the next one down the pipe 000 buck will change their lifestyle. S&W quality you cant go wrong. 5 stars

If you are a hunter, fisherman, or home protector, this is a MUST have weapon. Put 410 #4 and it will take out any snake. Put 410 buck shot in and it is a great home defense. Put in 45 colt long and you can stop a tank. I recently out wood grips on and it makes it an even more beautiful weapon.

Its a Smith! I bought it to carry on my property for snakes! Works flawlessly! I bought this over the judge because of capability of firing 6rds,.45acp, and because its a Smith.

As always very fast service from buds. As far as the governor I was impressed as most reviews say it's a good home defense or plinking gun. Myself I will pack it any time for protection. I shot 45 L.C. 200 Grn. Rounds very accurate out to 50 feet. I also shot 410 #10 shot and at 10 and 15 feet I don't want to be a snake as it put all the shot in a 8 inch pattern. Then I tried home defense rounds at 20 and 30 feet you don't want to be on the receiving end of them I used Hornady Critical Defense it had a very tight pattern with very large holes. The only thing that didn't impress me was using 45 ACP with moon clips. I tried it with brass and aluminum casings and they are going to have to be pried out of the clips. Other than that all in all a very good weapon for home protection or for packing as I am use to carrying a larger weapon anyway.

One of the worst purchases I have ever made. This revolver does not excel at anything. I would not trust my life to the defensive .410 out of this gun. .45 auto and Long colt have horrible accuracy due to the length of the cylinder to forcing cone. Buy something else unless all you want this for is killing snakes.

I received my Governor in a very timely manner which for starters is great! The package and gun were in nice packing keeping it safe until I picked it up. The lock for the hammer and barrel was a nice safety feature. The hammer and trigger are very smooth. The third click of the hammer coming back in single action use takes a smidge longer than the first two but nothing too major. It fires very nicely both 45 ACP using the included moon clips and with 45 Colt. There were quite a few clips included which was nice; however, the brass is a bit difficult to remove once fired and I needed to buy a piece to remove it. All in all the fun is beautiful in appearance and function and the versatility of the calibers is amazing.

Not tactical at all, but everyone loves it! "Bearded tactical a-holes" will even stop admiring there AR's to check it out. But as a warning, it will not help you get a chick. Ton of fun, the defense 410 loads are awesome, 45acp even rocks, but only use brass, steel cases spit and get stuck. I'll try aluminum soon. 45colt is also stout in defense loads, but a little pricey when compared to acp.

Gun shoots amazingly well. very little recoil on the .45 ammo. 410 shots are pretty manageable and shoot great. Gun was in mint condition when i picked it up. This gun is very I mean VERY fun to shoot. Definitely worth purchasing if you are looking for something amazing in your gun collection. One down side that I have experianced with this gun however is that after shooting a couple 410 shells through it and emptying the revolver I heard something inside the gun clinking around. Dont know what it is but its kind of annoying. Gun still shoots great but because of this im giving it a 4 STAR.

I just picked this revolver up today, I got it to replace the S&W 637 38 spl. I sold to be my new snake gun. I shot some 45 acp, 45 colt and 410 shot shells from it after I got home and cleaned it. Everything worked fine, the 45's felt like 22's coming out of it. The 45 colts had a little kick but not bad. The 410's had a little more kick but I think less than 357's out of my model 60. With 410's it blew a Coke can in half on the second shot at seven yards. It is a fantastic weapon and made with S&W quality. Fit and finish is great and it arrived in perfect condition. Well, when I went to close the chickens up for the night, there was a 5 1/2 foot rat snake layed up in the corner under the roost, the first one I have seen this year. I shot him in the head from about 5 feet and it was all over. My ears are still ringing, I will wear my ear plugs from now on when I go out at night to close up the birds. 410's are loud insde an 8'x8' hen house!! But what a great revolver. As for buds this is about my fiftith gun from them and they have always been great. Prices as good as my local shop gets wholesale, and has always offered very good service.

Just received my Governor, and I have to give kudos to Smith & Wesson for making such a quality product. Gun came in immaculate condition, everything neatly packaged and stored in its box(cardboard). This is my third Smith, second purchased through Buds, and am glad the quality exceeds the price paid. The gun itself is lighter than you think it will be and it points well. The grips(which are different than pictured), feel a bit firm compared to Hogues. While many people have a philosophical aversion to .410 bore hand guns, you can can not deny the quality of construction and the ability to shoot: 2.5" .410, 45 ACP, 45 LC, 45 GAP, 45 Schoefeld. Makes for a good multitasker. Cant wait to take it hiking. Thank you Buds for shipping my Governor so quickly! Ordered on Monday, picked up the gun on Thursday!

This Governor has typical S&W quality, which is very good. It is a better made revolver than its Taurus competitors. The sights are good and the trigger pull is decent. It has quite a sharp recoil with .410 shells but it is manageable. It is a great gun for woods walking; the .410 shot loads pack a punch and hold a good pattern, which amazed me. I am quite pleased with the revolver.
