I have waited 25 years to buy a Python. Watched the prices rise after they were discontinued. Finally pulled the trigger on this new model, I could not be happier with the quality of this piece. It all was made sweeter by Buds great price and fast shipping.......and the Colt Rebate put a cherry on the whole transaction. Thanks for making a dream come true.

Absolutely stunning firearm! The pictures don’t do it justice. The 5” barrel give the gun a great balance, and the smoothest double action trigger I’ve ever felt. This is not only fun at the range, but an heirloom that will be passed down.

Well, everyone has heard about this revolver, and I have admired the pistol for years. When colt had a rebate, in combo with Buds great pricing, I took the plunge. Extremely well built with close tolerances, and the weight minimizes kick back. She is heavy, but my collection needed a beauty to round things out. Probably should have gone with a 4" or even the std 6" versions as there are more holsters available, but no regrets thus far.

The Colt Python is a well made revolver that seems pricey until you get one in your hands. It is around $400 to $600 more than other competing revolver models but it looks and feels like high quality, and when you take it to the range, the performance confirms it. Put this one to the test with 500+ rounds in two sessions and no issues, tight groupings at 25 yards. You get what you pay for from the finish, action, style and accuracy. Prefer the 5 in. Python’s balance visually and physically over the 3 in., 4.24 in. or 6 in. IMO, the 2020 Pythons revolvers are value priced considering what you get for the money. Also, there is an ease of doing business with Bud’s from browsing to purchase (fair pricing and fast transaction) to shipping to receiving a factory new unblemished product. Overall good experience.

Much nicer gun than the 4” I bought. Smoother action and metal fit and finish is way better. The rear sight is a vast improvement over the first one. It’s nice and tight and actually holds zero unlike the 4” gun that I replaced it with a Wilson Combat rear

Bought mine a few months ago and already had to send it back to Colt. Cylinder and hammer lock up during regular shooting. I do not recommend this revolver.

I am an unabashed revolver fan. I have never shot a revolver that is as smooth and crisp as this Python. The 5 inch barrel is perfect for me. Very, very accurate gun. I just wish the 5 inch was available in blued.

Great revolver. I had two from the 70’s. I like this one better. Great transaction with Buds. Will do business again. Soon.

This is the first python I’ve ever handled and if the wife would let me I’d have more. There was a slight machine mark on the inside of the crane but it doesn’t affect function. The gun is incredibly accurate I don’t shoot revolvers often but shot 5/6 rounds into a 2x2 target in DA shooting. The trigger is much smoother than any Ruger or smith I’ve handled. I do plan to change out the sights. The rear sight could be much better. Great firearm despite the high cost but worth it imo.

I bought this Colt Python because I had heard of the legendary characteristics of the Colt wheelguns, but had never sprung the extra $500-700 premium that it costs over the other .357 Mag/.38 special wheel guns I have - a Ruger GP100 6" and a S&W 686 4". At 71 years of age, I finally decided to scratch that itch. I have bought a number of firearms from Bud's because their prices are the best, their shipping is fast , and their communication throughout the whole process is all one could ask. As soon as the Python arrived, I took it out to my pistol range and shot it. I shot all reloads, both .38 specials and .357 magnums. I have shot about 200 rounds through it now in the 2 weeks I have had it, and here are my findings. 1)The cylinder was tight, and some of my reloads would not fit, though they would fit in the Ruger and S&W. Very tight tolerances is not a bad thing IMO. It also had a few light hits on primers, although the Ruger and S&W would fire them. A light spring also gives a lighter trigger pull, so that is a trade off. 2) The double action pull is smooth and continuous right up to the trigger break and fire. That is different from both the Ruger and S&W which both have a very slight "lockup" just before the trigger breaks, allowing the shooter to develop muscle memory to quickly bring the cylinder around to the barely perceptible "lockup" and then get sights precisely on target before the trigger break. It took about 100 rounds before I developed the new muscle memory to shoot the Colt double action without the cylinder lock up to count on. Once used to it, I actually preferred it to the Ruger & S&W cylinder rotation. 3) The factory sights are terrible. This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. You have to have perfect eye sight to be able to use these sights effectively, since the rear blade notch is too large. Also, the rear sight blade windage screw has no tension on it, so it actually moves over time from the recoil. I have ordered a set of Harrison Snake sights with a fiber optic front sight, which I am pretty certain will correct this problem. I can't help but think though that a $1500 gun should come with premium sights. 4) The overall feel of the gun is absolutely wonderful. It is different than both the Ruger and S&W, and it feels 33% (the price difference) more substantial. I love the wood grips, the heft of the gun, the way it aligns naturally in my hand with my arm and target. I easily hit 5/6 shots at my 12" gong @ 50 yards. To me, this testifies to the shootability of this wheel gun, even with the less than optimal sights.

5 Inch is my favorite barrel length for double action revolvers. I was excited when Colt announced that they were making a 5 Inch Python and I could not wait to get one. It was worth the wait. The balance is spot on, point-ability is there, the sights are excellent and easy to pickup. I have heard about how smooth the trigger pull is on the new Pythons, this did not disappoint at all. Great double action trigger, followed by a stellar single action trigger, no sponginess, no creep, just smooth and crisp. This revolver was well worth the wait and definitely well worth the exceptional price that Bud's Guns Shop sold it to me for. Bud's you have gained a life long customer, this is second gun I have purchased from you and like before, it went without a hitch. Now let us see if Colt will release a 5 Inch Anaconda.
