The Hornady 9mm 135 grain Critical Duty round is a very accurate and consistent, rating very high in performance. But for this ammunition I would still be carrying my 1911 .45 ACP. I’m retired LEO and that’s how much I trust it to protect me and my family.

Got this product specifically to go with my Extar EP9. My choice for home defense. Great product (Hornady never disappoints) at a great price that I know will do the job. Shoots smooth. I accidently ordered Hornady plus P and so didn't plan on using on duty or even back up, I usually get the 135 gr and am quite happy with the round however since I got the plus P I figured what the heck I would practice with it using the Glock 19 and M&P full size 2.0, and I fully admit that I was very surprise on how smooth this round is, not snappy as I had figured it would be since it was plus p and 124 gr as I have experienced with other plus p brands, I shared a box with a friend and he thought they weren't snappy either, as far as being accurate well in my opinion its a high quality bullet but accuracy is more depended on the person skills then the round! Now I get Hornady plus P for on duty however I still use their 135 gr because I love that round a little more but you will be happy with either!

In my opinion the Hornady Critical Duty ammo is the best you can by for personal defense. Bud’s absolutely has the best price I have seen on this ammo.

As a police officer and firearms instructor I do business with a lot of different companies. Bud’s gun shop is by far my number one go to for ammunition moving forward. Make sure when you buy any ammo even the expensive stuff you cycle a few rounds through your firearm to make sure it feeds properly in your gun. Quick and easy order and shipping process. The email communication from Buds was timely and informative. I’ve been to multiple Hornady demos and tested the rounds myself, through multiple barriers. I specifically purchased these to be subsonic loads for a CZ Scorpion Micro with a YHM R9 suppressor. Every shot was subsonic (1094 cold bore,1058,1078,1071,1091,1064,1070,1069,1059). Shot at 60 degrees F, approximately 1500’ above sea level, and with a Caldwell chrono. The group was very tight at 25 yds (all touching). No reliability issues. I compared these to the Hornady Subsonic loads and the branded subsonic rounds were slightly quieter. However, I greatly prefer the performance of these rounds. The Hornady Critical Duty 135gr are my EDC rounds for the Scorpion.
