The correct technical definition of DAO is a system where trigger pressure performs the twin functions of cocking and firing. Since the P320 is already cocked, the trigger can only release the striker. It would have to be more like an SAO (single-action-only) trigger. It would probably be better to say that DA and SA are terms that define trigger action as it relates to the pistol's lockwork. Leave the clearing of passive safeties out of the equation, even though they make some of these trigger systems feel very DA-like. Somehow, the term DAO has come to be associated with greater safety in handling, so it is unlikely that the makers will cease using it on guns that are clearly fully cocked.

Hi Matt, Its a striker fired gun its like every other glock the trigger pull retracts the firing pin and releases it to strike the primer (IE double action) some strike fired guns the firing is is already back (under spring tension) and the trigger pull just releases it to go forward to strike the firing pin then the action of the slide pulls the firing pin back into the under tension ready position. This will explain it better - americanrifleman.org/articles/2015/4/23/clarifying-double-action-only-dao/

Matt. Striker Fired: Rather than a hammer, an internal striker is cocked when you rack the slide. The only way to de-cock is to pull the trigger on a typical striker. Striker fired weapons typically give you much less to think about when you’re firing. Glocks are the finest example of a striker fired pistol.
