Is the distance between the grip screws 3-1/16" ?

Mike, I would get the exact screw spacing from Howa-Legacy at TOLL FREE: 1-800-5-LEGACY --- Direct: 1-775-828-0555

just measured mine it was 2 and 5/8 or 2.625 I have a set of the Hogue wraparound officers grips on mine and they fit great

You would need officer model size grips for this gun. Spacing is approximately 2.665". The grips for officer's model 1911s should fit just fine.
