Vincent, This is correct. This rifle has a barrel that is stamped 5.56NATO so it will handle the 5.56 and lower pressure .223 round no issue.

the difference in .223 and 5.56 is the thickness of the brass and pressure. You can shoot .223 in a 5.56 barrel with no problem. I would not shoot 5.56 in a .223 barrel unless it is a .223 Wylie barrel.
