Hi Yancy, Here are 2 great detailed blogs about each of these models.
The Colt Combat - thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/10/21/new-gun-colt-combat-unit-carbine/
The Colt Trooper - thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/08/11/new-colt-introduces-trooperr-patrol-carbine/
The Combat -
“Producing a mid-length gas system was the logical next-step for us, and it’s long overdue,”“Shooters will find that by moving the gas block closer to the muzzle as this mid-length gas system does, the felt recoil is more constant with what is fielded by our troops carrying a 14.5” barrel M4.”
Chambered in 5.56 NATO, the carbine has a 16.1″ barrel with a 1:7″ twist and lightweight profile. The trigger is a single stage model. Various Magpul parts are used including the MOE SL pistol grip and buttstock. An M-LOK compatible Centurion CMR free-float hand guard is standard. The safety is ambidextrous (LE6960-CCU)
The Trooper -
The Trooper Patrol Carbine is offered in 5.56 x 45 NATO, and features a 16.1” barrel and a 13” M-LOK® capable Centurion Arms forend with a Picatinny rail at 12 o’clock, and M-LOK® mounting slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. Yancy, these rifles are similar. The colt combat has some enhanced parts/tuning. The big difference in price has to do with stock levels. High stock rifles are frequently hundreds less at Buds than low stock similar rifles. The Trooper has over 240 in stock while the Combat has only 38 in stock.
