I, too, had the same quality concerns other posters had mentioned, based on feedback available online about Marlin quality. I just received my 1895sbl, and after a thorough inspection, found the rifle sent by Bud's to be in excellent condition. No scratching on the stainless, the wood seams are tight with the metal, and the action is smooth. I am looking forward to lots of good times and hunting with this rifle-

Don't be nervous about ordering this rifle. Whatever issues that Marlin had for a while have been worked out. This firearm has a top-notch fit and finish. It functions perfectly and is very accurate. It goes very well with the 2.5x Leupold Scout scope.

Great rifle! Everything I was looking for, no issues. Bud's was great, quick, smooth transaction!

Looks great, fit & finish was smooth, action cycles well with no hang-ups &ejects spend brass with no issues, large loop fits my hands much more comfortably than the smaller style, recoil pads like this will be on all my long guns. Excellent rifle!

I have wanted one for years, but still cannot justify buying it. The ammo is so expensive, but the gun is so cool.
Beautiful gun, you won't be disappointed. :)

I was a little worried about purchasing this rifle online due to all the talk of the quality of these rifles being poor. But I can say that this one that buds sent me is in perfect condition. Very happy with it.

Honestly can't find anything wrong with it. Beautiful craftsmanship.

It's not a Marlin thats fer sure. I bought mine about 2 years ago from Bud's, (waaaaaay cheaper than LGS BTW) But it does not cycle smoothly at all. I have to almost double clutch it, I would not trust this rifle with my life in Alaska which is what I bought it for- will carry my HK91 instead...I think I will have this thing chopped in half by tWild West Guns in Anchorage and made into a takedown and have them fix remington's shitty action work. At least my front sight sight is not canted!!

Maybe Remington rehired the Marlin guys they laid off and now they're better? I dont know...

Remlin finally got their stuff together. Fit and finish are nice. Beautiful rifle overall. Lever cycles smooth. Smooth as a lever can I suppose, it takes some getting used to if you've never used one before. Had some issues with the FFL, took several days to sync our schedules, not really buds fault but it would be nice if they distinguished between actual gun stores and random dudes with FFLs. But the gun itself is flawless. Have yet to fire it, but I can't find any problems and believe me I have been looking for even the smallest due to the price tag. Be warned .45-70 rounds are not cheap, the cheapest start at $1.60 a round and go all the way up to $6 a round for grizzly bear loads. If you can afford it, and you need to hunt Woolly Mammoths, this is your gun.
