BudsGunShop.com - Is cowboy action ammo suitable for self-defense?

I'm not sure what cowboy action means? Are these suitable for self-defense in a derringer? I'm sure they would be effective but what is the actual difference between a standard 45 LC and a cowboy action version? I do plan on purchasing another Henry rifle chambered in 45 LC so I'm interested in purchasing ammo suitable for both. Thanks!

Cowboy action loads are low velocity rounds intended for soft comfortable shooting and older firearms not meant for today's high velocity rounds. Mean it would work for defense, anything's better than nothing but no I personally wouldn't recommend them and would advise you to find something else as soon as you can especially in a derringer that doesn't have as much pressure and velocity due to its shorter barrel already. Hope this helps.
