Glock 20 Overview

When it comes law enforcement, self protection, or even hunting, the Glock 20, 10mm AUTO, is the best handgun to provide firepower and accuracy. The 10mm Auto is certainly much more potent than the .40 S&W, and even slightly edges out the .45ACP. The Glock 20 represents about the higher limits of ballistic possibilities that you’re going to be able to get in any real world, mass production, semi-auto pistol. The Glock 20 Gen4 appears to be a natural in this department. Boasting a 15+1 round magazine from a 27-½ ounce platform, it sort of resembles a Glock 17 (a pistol I admire), but instead on steroids. Now I’d seen a lot of wild hog hunters packing earlier generation models of the Glock 20, and at that time I found myself thinking that if there was such a thing as a serious hunting auto, this might be it!



One of the major differences in the Gen4 Glocks is a much more user friendly non-slip frame surface. The Gen4 sports a modifiable backstrap, a bigger reversible magazine release button, and a notched magazine which enables a more productive function, adding to its improvement. Another improvement to the Gen4 is the dual recoil spring system, which is designed to increase the spring life and decrease the felt recoil. To be candid, when I shot a Glock 17 Gen4 9mm, I had been struggling to notice any real difference from the previous versions. In spite of that feeling, I was quick to notice that the 10mm Glock 20 was soft shooting; sufficient enough to convince me that the dual spring system was doing something significantly beneficial! The Glock 20 Gen4 really did a praiseworthy job of taming the 10mm. Honestly, I believe that it was considerably less recoil, in terms of muzzle flip, then compared to some .357 SIGs I’ve shot. One thing that you better take into account whenever you shoot the 10mm is the concussion when discharged. I would not want to shoot one without all the ear protection I could get………...that, or learn sign language.
