Ruger LCR Overview

First introduced in 2010, the innovative Ruger Lightweight Carry Revolver (LCR) was first made available in a handy five-shot .38 Special +P, weighing in at only 13 1/2 ounces. The hammer on the LCR is bobbed and fully shrouded, and is a only available in a DAO (double action only) configuration. This ultra light revolver is the lightest weight revolver that Ruger has ever produced. Sporting a 1-â…ž inch sleeved barrel, the Ruger LCR has an alloy reinforced polymer frame and a stainless steel cylinder, which allows it to come in at only about 55% the weight of the Ruger SP101. The Ruger LCR .38 Special +P revolver is the first such specimen in the history of firearms to utilize a polymer in the frame construction. It is a really practical revolver, and equal in proportion to the classic S&W Chief or Taurus Model 85.



It was not long before popular demand dictated that a heftier offering was made in the .357 Magnum, and in 2012 a .22LR was added into this great line of revolvers. A 22 Magnum is rumored to soon be released, or could already be out, but I haven't seen one yet. The .357 Magnum is significantly heavier at 17.1 ounces, but still much lighter than other .357s on the

market today. I\\'ve owned the .357 Magnum version, and was actually quite surprised at the easily manageable recoil. The trigger, while scaling at near 10 pounds of pull is equally smooth, and with Rugers cam type trigger set-up, feels actually lighter than that. Cylinder capacities are 5, 6, and 8 rounds, depending on the caliber that you purchase.



I love carrying a semi-automatic handgun for protection, I am very familiar with their function. If I was not a regular or experienced shooter, I would take a revolver over an automatic any day, and twice on Sunday. Revolvers are full proof in functionablility and overall dependability. If you were to have a FTF round, the countermeasure is as easy as squeezing off the next round in the cylinder.
