First introduced in 2012, the Ruger SR22 is a compact size, traditional styled, double-action .22 semi-automatic pistol, with an instantaneous blowback action. The Ruger SR22 sports a 3.5 inch stainless-steel barrel, and features an aircraft-grade aluminum slide, glass-filled nylon polymer-frame construction, and steel magazine..



The Ruger SR22s straight blowback mechanism employs an accuracy enhancing fixed barrel configuration. This is fairly uncommon for a modern day rimfire pistol. The Ruger SR22 action applies an opened hammer firing system, as opposed to an internal striker. The first round of the SR22 is in full DA trigger pull, but after that, the hammer is left cocked for SA for the next 9 following rounds. Trigger pull for the double action mode is in the 8 to 11 pounds range, but the single action mode is in the four to five pound range and feels extremely nibble to the shooter.



Once the very last shot in a magazine is fired, the slide catch instantly holds the slide open. Upon the insertion of the next loaded magazine into the Ruger SR22, the slide release can be depressed and the pistol will charge the next round.
