Taurus PT1911 Overview

So why would Taurus make an attempt at getting in on the already saturated market of 1911s. The answer is quite simple, they just thought that they could do it better.



First introduced in 2005, the PT1911 was only available in blued steel. Taurus believed that they could, for the money, build a more cost effective weapon with some superior bells and whistles on a base model gun. The “extras” that they included on their base model for free, had previously been reserved as “add-ons” for companies like Kimber, Para Ordnance, and Springfield. Options that make you feel like you’re holding the a tool instead of an excuse. At the back of its finely machined forged steel frame is a beavertail grip safety, an ambidextrous thumb safety, a slide stop, a lowered and flared ejection port, accented by frame checkering. This gun ain’t no rookie!



In 2007, the stainless PT1911 made its debut, and was an instant success. These single stack, semi automatic, recoil operated self loaders, are everything that a 1911 is supposed to be…….without having to take out a second mortgage.
