• Q: Has anyone put houge grips on the 642? Do the grips interfere with carrying this in pocket Gun manner? Is it harder to withdraw the gun from the pocket?

  John, the Hogue Grips will add some length to the grip for better control of the M642 and will slightly degrade ease of drawing from pocket carry. Cheers and stay safe!

• Q: With hogue hand grips, can I use an HSK speed loader? I read somewhere that it will not clear the grip since it is a bit thicker than the original grip. Is that true?

• Q: What we’re to happen if you shoot p ammo instead of +p in a revolver that’s meant to shoot the latter?

  A:

  William, nothing. .38 Special has a maximum pressure of 17,000 PSI, .38 Special +P is 20,000 PSI. You can certainly fire the less powerful standard 38 Special Load in a +P rated revolver such as the M642. It will be milder shooting and is recommended for the recoil sensitive and has less muzzle blast which is beneficial in an indoor shooting/defense scenario where you might not have time for hearing protection.

• Q: I don't have a 38 special but my Lady friend is looking to buy a 38 special because of the neighborhood she lives in and since she is by herself with 3 dogs & a bird she isn't taking any chances this revolver all you have to do is pull the trigger until it's empty I aussume wouldn't it be better to shoot it first before making that decision before buying a revolver

  Yes it is always better to shoot before you buy especially for new shooters please find a range that rents guns and have her shoot different ones to see what she likes

• Q: Can't it shoot +p ammo and is Ladysmith engraved on the side? Description says this is a Ladysmith but photo suggests otherwise.

  Yes on +P, and the S&W site's pictures are more accurate, it just has Airweight engraved on the side: https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/model-642 The Ladysmith 642 is model number 163808
