• Q: Why is this described as the CA Compliant model yet when you go to purchase it and send it to CA, it says that it is not CA Compliant?

  Jay, this is California compliant so buds website must be acting up. You can contact buds customer service at 859-368-0371 Monday thru Friday 9am to 9pm or you can use the blue chat button at the bottom right corner of your screen. They'll be able to assist you with completing the order. We're just customers as yourself not buds employees so we can only point you in the right direction.   Eric, CA just means it has been certified to be sold in the State of CA (On the CA DOJ Handgun Roster). Trigger pull averages 5lbs. Cheers and stay safe!

• Q: Is this rock Island "ported" so that it will accept 185 grn silver tips besides the standard 230 grn military ammo?

• Q: I recently applied a small amount of white out to the front sight to make aiming easier, but did not like the rough texture once it dried so I removed it using a soft sponge and some CLP. Afterwards, it seems that a bit off the original black finish was rubbed off by the sponge- I can see shiny stainless metal at the base of the front sight on the right side, just a tiny spot. It won't rust will it? Should I be worried? I realize these guns can take abuse. Just worried about long term issues.

  Christopher, it should not Sir. I would treat the small area with a rust inhibitor just in case though. Once white out dries is does become chalky and a small dab of clear sealant will smooth it out.
• Q: I love everything about this gun BUT I can't stand the full length 2-piece guide rod! Every single time I take this pistol to the range and put any number of rounds through it, the front end of the guide rod gets wiggled loose and ends of sticking out of the gun. Is there a aftermarket 1-piece guide rod I can buy to fix this? This design was perfect as JMB originally made it. Full length GR, Bull barrel, reverse recoil spring plug, not necessary. Not a GI pistol at all. JMB would be unhappy.

• Q: Is this pistol Colt parts compliant and is there a decocker ?

  Bennie, This firearm has a de cocker/safety combo lever. Much of the construction and parts are the same as original colt. RIA used original blueprints and specs. RIA made 1911s for the US military back in WWII -The US government gave a copy of the original Colt 1911 blueprints to the RIA company back then so they could make these pistols for the US troops in WWII. That same factory that was used in the Philippines to make those 1911s is the same factory that is being used today and RIA still uses those same old Colt blueprints to make their 1911s. So, although these pistols have the small RIA logo on the rear of the slide, these 1911s are exact copies of the original Colt 1911s. This is just like a full sized GI style 1911 but is .75 inches shorter than the full sized 5 inch version. The big difference here is the MS has a full length guide rod and a bull barrel and no barrel bushing or recoil spring plug. As a result, the take-down/ field strip process is a little different than your standard issue 1911 and in some ways a bit more difficult. But don't let that scare you away. I highly recommend that you use a bent paper clip or an Allen-wrench to help you with field-stripping this pistol.

  Is this pistol rated for +P defensive ammunition loads or no? For example, could I use Hornady Critical Duty 45ACP (Buds item no. 84259) in this pistol? Thanks.

  Chris - This one will handle +P with no problems at all. The Hornady Critical Defense is a well reviewed self defense round, as are Federal Train & Protect and Federal Hydra Shok ammo. I carried Hydra Shok as my duty ammo for years. It performs well. • Q: Whats the difference between the California compliant and the normal 1911?

  Not trying to be funny, but nothing functionally. The normal model has just not been tested/certified for the CA Approved Roster just yet. It could be something as simple as drop test, loaded chamber indicator, micro stamping requirements or even a change to the pistol which would require it to be certified/re-certified. Cali makes it tough for ya'll man.
