I have a ruger american 22 mag with 18" barrel...so i shouldnt shoot these? would i be better off with the 30g vmax?

Margaurite, these will fire ok but the 30 grain V-Max will be better in the 18 barrel as the Critical Defence is optimized for pistols shorter barrel.

Paul, you should stick with "Pistol"/Shorter barrel firearms as these rounds have been specifically Optimized for short-barreled firearms. They will work in rifles but will be underpowered due to the powder used to optimize for short barrels.

I run this through my PMR 30’s; both my daughters and my wife carry for self defense. Very low recoil but decent penetration and power especially when they have 30 rounds available.
Great round for people that can’t handle much recoil; they use a faster burning powder which works better in handguns than .22 mag made for rifle length barrels.
