I am interested in the Winchester 534217137 1873 Sporter Lever 357, with octagonal 24" barrel but could not find it in the California-legal rifle section but it is available in the general rifle section. Is it not CA-legal? Since I live in California, I hesitate to buy it if it is not legal. Can't imagine a 140+ year design rifle not being legal. Thanks for answering.

There was no instruction for takedown and reassembly provided with this gun. I called the manufacturer and they said just clean the barrel and what you can see of the bolt. Has anyone taken the action apart and if so can you advise me how to do it. I've never owned a gun that didn't have a manual explaining it's takedown

I know the heavy 320gr. Buffalo Bore stuff isn't recommended for anything except the Raging Bull,Rugers etc.,but what would be the ideal ammunition for this,I'm thinking 200-240gr Federal or Remington would be the hottest you'd really want?
