The early Gen 5s had half-circle cutout on the bottom front of the grip to aid in magazine removal. Is it correct that that has been removed in later production runs?

Just out of curiosity I do not like the breach-style muzzle break for this firearm and was wondering if there was an alternative to put in its place to look like the end of a traditional shotgun? Or if I just took it off would it damage the threads on the inside of the barrel when firing?
