I recently purchased a Marlin 30-30 lever action. I have only had it out once and have little experience with lever actions. I was having a lot of problems with feeding and ejection. (Never worked correctly once) I understand I have to work action fast and hard. But just how fast and hard? Is there a break in? Is there a definite way of telling if it is the gun or myself?

I purchased a firearm with the 90 day layaway option. I made my initial payment 5 days ago and I have received emails stating it was accepted and the money is out of my account but it still says status "settling" when I go to try to make another payment. What does that mean? Does it just take more time to show up?
