What is the difference between .45 ACP and .45 AP? I read somewhere it only has to do with the specific company doesn’t want to acknowledge Colt but other Spingfield Armory 1911’s say they are .45 ACP and this one only says .45 AP.

I can't tell from the pic, but is the frame handle in front of the mag well smooth or checkered so as to get a better grip? Seems to be on higher priced 1911's like Kimber and Sig.
