Hi Christopher and welcome back. Yes, the Gen 3 is the newer model. The SAR9c comes from the factory with a modified RMSc footprint adapter plate a.k.a. Holosun K Series. RMSc Red Dots will mount direct. Other footprint Red Dots would require an adapter plate.
