  • if i buy the 0455non-convertable blackhawk, can i get the 45 acp cylinder later or is there a difference with the actual frame of the gun that would make me have to buy the 0456 convertable modle that comes with the 45 acp cylinder?

  • Yes you can Brad but, 'Smithing" is usually required. The "timing" has to be PERFECT. If the cylinder doesn't line up with the barrel just right, it's a problem. Revolvers either come with multiple cylinders that are checked at the factory to be timed properly for that frame, or the company requests that you send the gun to them if you want to get additional cylinders. (If you intend on getting the different caliber cylinder, I would just get the "Convertible" for ease and peace of mind).

  • You can get the Cylinder later but Ruger say it must be fitted to the receiver( timed Which affects the cylinder to barrel alignment ). you will see where people buy them and they work with no fitting The frames are Identical I have the 45acp/45lc convertible and I love shooting the 45acp in it I am looking at getting one in .357/9mm. A lot of the time you can find the extra cylinders on Ebay If you can afford it I suggest getting the convertible then you know it all works. the last time I priced the cylinders they were around $100. 00 plus fitting so the $70 or so to get the convertible is a good deal
