Hi James, Spray some silcone spray in them they'll loosen up after you get the first shells in.

I have not James. You can try a little dry lube on a shell to see if it helps. I don't know if it has a different gauge holder by mistake or what. I would try heating it with maybe a hair dryer if available to see if it flexes enough to put 12ga shells in and if so let it cool for a few minutes. Then try removal of the shells and reinsertion.

try using a little talc on the shells to get them in the 1st time then let it sit and stretch out some before you use it of course wipe off the shells before you use them
