  • Just received (2) two supposedly brand new and unused firearms from Buds.
    1) cerakote was a bit scratched, very minute, probably can't tell if you don't pay attention to detail.
    2) Canik Mete MC9: when the slide is cocked back the barrel is super loose and can move from front to back a couple of mm, basically too loose for comfort. When I asked the ffl manager about this he said its normal. His response didn't sit well with me so here I am.
    What should I do?

  • Hi Steph and welcome. I have a Canik Mete MC9 and it has the same barrel looseness when the slide is locked back. I have not had any issues in well over 500 rounds of standard and +P ammunition. If you have already accepted the transfer, you may want to contact manufacturer or if it is also a Canik at Canik USA Customer Service at the following to ask about the scratched finish - canikusa.com/contact-us ---------- Cheers and stay safe!

  • I am concerned about the issues you've faced, Steph. Unfortunately, as you have already completed the transfer and taken possession, the firearm cannot be returned to BudsGun for a refund. Your only option now for any functional defects is to contact Canik directly for warranty service.
While some barrel movement is normal for function, the cosmetic scratches are not covered under most manufacturer warranties. Since you accepted the firearm with these blemishes, a refund for cosmetic damage is highly unlikely, however, reach out to Buds customer service and see if they can credit you for the damages?
I truly hope budsguns will be able to resolve the issues and that you have a better experience in the future.

  • I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you're experiencing Steph. If you've already completed the transfer and taken possession of the firearms, please keep in mind that it CANNOT be returned to Budsguns for a refund or replacement, your best option is to reach out directly to Canik for warranty assistance. If you decided to refuse the transfer, your FFL can help you return the firearm for a refund.
A little bit of barrel "looseness" is actually normal and important for the firearm to function properly when the slide is locked back, some movement is expected. What's most important is how the firearm performs when fired with accuracy and reliability as key indicators.
Regarding the scratches, most manufacturer warranties cover mechanical issues, but cosmetic damage like minor scratches typically are NOT included. If you accepted the firearm with those scratches, a refund or replacement from the manufacturer is unlikely.
I truly hope everything works out for you, and that BudsGuns can earn your trust back. Best of luck 🙏🏻

  • Your FFL wasn't lying though. My friend bought one Beand new & same thing with regards to barrel movement when slide is locked back. As far as the scratch in the cerakote, I'd attribute that to just an oversight on Caniks part. If you've completed the transfer, then you'll need to contact Canik customer support about the cerakote issue.
