Hi Robert and welcome. You would need a CCW and another valid form of id such as a driver's license or other State issued ID. A CCW is just part of that equation. Kinda the reason they did not let you leave with the firearms. Cheers and say safe!

Do you have a passport? I ran into a situation where my driver's license didn't match my current address, but a passport is as legit, if not more, form of ID as a DL so they took that. A lot of places only accept the firearms permits as proof that the person identified in their driver's license or passport is eligible to possess the gun, not as ID itself.

You just need a valid Kentucky CCW.

I know here in NY when purchasing a firearm, your license/state ID must be current. Your state must follow those same guidelines. You can get a Non-Driver state ID.

Good evening to you. A ccw is all you should need here in KY. That's all I use. I would get my license renewed just to have a current id. But since you no longer drive I'd get just a standard KY ID. Hope this helps. Have a good rest of your day.

Hi Robert, your CCW should be all you need.
In Kentucky, a CCDW license is not needed to buy long guns.
However, having a CCDW license can facilitate the purchase process, as it serves as a substitute for the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) when buying firearms.
A utility bill will provide proof of address, in lieu of DL, but it should not be necessary with your CCW.
