Hi Andre, if your information closely resembles that of someone with a disqualifying record, it may require further investigation. This includes similar names or dates of birth. By law, if a delay is not cleared up in 72 hours, the FFL may release the gun to you, but he is under no obligation to do so, as this could lead to legal issues if the applicant is later found to be ineligible. Some FFL's choose to err on the side of caution and hold the gun, others will release it.

I wouldn't worry, in my commie state of NY, even Police Officers sometimes get delayed.

Your state will finish and release any holds on your background check within 72 hrs. There's really nothing to do but wait. Sorry
