The Taurus TX22 Gen 2 TORO (introduced in 2024) is a direct upgrade to the original Gen 1 TX22 platform. The Gen 2 version features an upgraded Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS) for a smoother pull, a heavier-profile "bull" barrel for increased accuracy, and Glock-standard dovetail iron sights. The Gen 2 includes the T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide cut, which allows you to mount micro red dots (like a Shield RMSC footprint) without needing a separate, bulkier adapter plate. Additionally, the Gen 2 upgraded the internal guide rod to a dual captive recoil spring and now includes one 22-round extended magazine alongside a standard 16-round magazine
Hi Tahiti and welcome. The Taurus TX22 TORO Gen 2 is simply the updated, second-generation version of the original TX22 TORO (Taurus Optics Ready Option). The primary difference is that the Gen 2 introduces the Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS), upgraded iron sights that use the Glock standard dovetail (making them easier to customize), and a revised dual captive recoil spring. Both models are optics-ready, feature threaded barrels, and include higher-capacity magazines (typically 16-round and 22-round magazines). However, the Gen 2's new trigger system offers a smoother pull and reset compared to the Gen 1. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

The Taurus TX22 Gen1 T.O.R.O and the Gen2 T.O.R.O are both optics-ready .22LR pistols, but the Gen2 introduces significant upgrades: an upgraded Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS), a dual-captive recoil spring, a heavy bull barrel with a reverse crown, and updated iron sights that are compatible with Glock dovetails.1. The Trigger SystemThe Gen2 features the updated Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS). While the original Gen1 trigger was well-received, the Gen2 PTS is designed for a smoother, crisper pull and a much more defined reset.2. Sights & Optics MountingBoth models are T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) models, allowing direct mounting of red dot sights (using the Shield RMSC footprint). However, the Gen2 upgraded the iron sights to utilize Glock-pattern dovetails, making it much easier to customize or swap the front and rear sights compared to the Gen1.3. Barrel & Recoil AssemblyThe Gen2 T.O.R.O. features an upgraded heavy bull barrel with a full reverse crown, which often improves structural consistency. Additionally, the Gen2 utilizes a more modern dual captive recoil spring system, replacing the single flat-wire spring found in the Gen1.4. Magazine CapacityThe Gen2 ships with updated high-capacity magazines, generally including one 16-round and one extended 22-round magazine. You can explore the specific design specifications of the Gen2 at the Lakeline LLC Blog or read the full product specs on the Taurus USA Product Page.
